Sarah Sharp

GM Technical and Engineering, Integrated Weapons and Sensors, Thales Australia, Sydney

Sarah Sharp is GM Technical and Engineering for Thales’s Integrated Weapons and Sensors business line. Sarah has over 25 years’ experience in Executive level management for R&D, New Product Introduction and Manufacturing in high technology companies. She has delivered innovative and disruptive products from concept stage to commercially successful products across a diverse range of industries including Medical, Defence, Aerospace, Industrial and Consumer applications and incorporating a variety of technologies; Electronics, Optoelectronics, Nanotechnology, Semiconductor, Mechanical, Artificial Intelligence, 3D Printing and Novel Materials. This includes driving numerous Joint Ventures with leading universities and national research institutions across Europe, USA, Asia and Australia.

Sarah has an honours bachelor’s degree and PhD in Physics and MSc in Semiconductor Science and Technology gained at University of London as well as an MBA in Engineering Management gained at Manchester University Business School, UK.

David Forbes

David is the Business Improvement Manager for Australia’s oldest mass production plant, Lithgow Small Arms Factory. He has worked in the manufacturing industry for 41 years and has a real passion for creating and sustaining effective Lean working practices. He is committed to growing human potential and implementing change management.   

Peter Goodwin

Acoustics Centre of Excellence Director at Thales

Peter Goodwin has 40 years’ experience in Australian and global manufacturing and supply chain operations, primarily in the defence sector. An experienced leader, he is able to facilitate, guide and manage the interactions between diverse upstream and downstream functions and personnel, across the entire product and project life cycle.  Peter has a strong commitment to HSE leadership, with a track record of demonstrated, sustained improvement.  His experience includes designing and implementing effective Industrialisation strategies for existing and new product lines of technically advanced products.  Peter’s greatest passion is sponsoring and supporting Continuous Improvement and problem-solving projects having led teams to achieve significant improvements in quality levels, productivity, waste reduction, and HSE risk reduction.
